This Song was written to remember the first sermon spoken in New Zealand. This happened in the Bay of islands, in 1814, on a beach. Rev Samuel Marsden was the man who travelled to share the gospel here. It also illustrates the different season we celebrate Christmas in here

Isaiah 49;6 I will make you a light of the nations so that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.
One of my favourite Christmas hymns is O come, O come
Emmanuel. I love the meaning of Emmanuel, God with us, and the thought He is
with us whenever, wherever we are. For me, Advent is a time to hope, to
prepare, to examine my heart to allow God in, in new ways.
Of course we remember the birth of Jesus, sent as a baby
to show us just how much God loves us. Babies melt our hearts simply by being
present. God present with us melts the hardness around our hearts to let Him
in.
This presence of God is for all though and as we see, over
and over again in Isaiah God cares about all the nations.
Here in New Zealand, at the other end of the earth from
Bethlehem, we have a tree, the pohutukawa that we call our Christmas tree as it
flowers each Christmas. It has bright red flowers which remind me not only of
the celebration of God's love, but also of Jesus love shown to us through his
death. So each Christmas we see that God's salvation has truly reached the end
of the earth.
Heavenly Father, we pray that this Christmas we would see
you in new ways, experience your love in new ways and remember that your love
reaches not only to the end of the earth for us, but from heaven to earth.

uns, und den Gedanken, dass Er immer bei uns ist, wo auch immer wir sind.
Advent ist für mich die Zeit zu hoffen, vorzubereiten,
mein Herz zu untersuchen, Gott erlauben einzutretenauch auf neue Weise.
Natürlich erinnern wir uns an die Geburt Jesu, der uns als
Baby geschickt wurde, um uns zu zeigen, wie sehr Gott uns liebt. Babys
schmelzen unsere Herzen,allein durch ihre Anwesenheit. Gott, der mit uns
gegenwärtig ist, schmilzt die Härte um unsere Herzen, um Ihn herein zu lassen.
Diese Gegenwart Gottes ist für alle. Und wie wir sehen,
kümmert Gott sich in Jesaja immer wieder um alle Nationen.
Hier in Neuseeland, am anderen Ende der Erde von
Bethlehem, haben wir einen Baum, den Pohutukawa, den wir unseren Weihnachtsbaum
nennen, weil er jedes Weihnachten blüht. Er hat leuchtend rote Blüten, die mich
nicht nur an die Feier der Liebe Gottes erinnern, sondern auch an die Liebe
Jesu, die uns durch seinen Tod gezeigt wurde. So sehen wir zu Weihnachten, dass
Gottes Erlösung das Ende der Erde wirklich erreicht hat.
Himmlische Vater, wir beten, dass wir dich in diesem Jahr
auf neue Art und Weise sehen und deine Liebe auf neue Weise erleben und daran
denken, dass deine Liebe nicht nur für uns, sondern auch vom Himmel auf die
Erde bis ans Ende der Erde reicht.
